Read the latest news from the world of SEO optimization in our latest guide to SEO optimization in 2021.
As I presented in the previous article, the first step of the search engine optimization process is the site analysis step.
A very important aspect in SEO is the choice of keywords. If the right keywords are not chosen (in terms of traffic and relevance), the SEO project will not have the expected results.
After establishing the keywords for which the optimization process is carried out, the on-page optimization stage takes place. This is the second stage of the SEO optimization process. The role of this stage is to increase the relevance of the site to searches that take place in Google.
On-page optimization is done at the level of metatags content, body structure, and at the level of site content so that it is indexed on a better position by Google.
The information contained in the site is very important for the search engine (if the page contains too little or too much information, indexing problems occur).
Source code optimization
The HTML and CSS pages of the site must not contain errors, because pages with errors are penalized by search engines. It is recommended that there are not a large number of active content elements on the pages of the website.
A few actions to tick in the source code optimization process:
- Links to have the TITLE attribute
- Images to have ALT attribute
- the keyword must be in the URL
- Title and Description metatags must contain the keyword
- call up pages via direct links, not through menus built 100% with Flash or Javascript technologies.
The most common mistakes made when optimizing source code
Factors that negatively influence page indexing:
- over-optimization of metatags – if the keyword is used too often in metatags, Google will consider it spam, and will submit the page
- pages containing frames – loading more than one frame has negative effects on how the page is seen by search engines
Fiveplus performs an analysis of the site to determine if the HTML or CSS contains errors and if so, how they can be removed.
We pay close attention to the correctness of the page source code and try to avoid using frames and limiting active content elements to keep the page size reasonable.
Website content optimization
Optimizing the text in the Body of the page, some actions to check:
- Use of H1-H6 tags
- Content formats
- Creating keyword density
Other rules on page:
- there are not too many links on a page
- all external links to be valid
- the page should not be too large
The most common mistakes made when optimizing content
Factors that negatively influence page indexing:
- over-optimization of site content – if the keyword is used too often, Google will consider spam, and will submit the page
- links to sites penalized by Google – sites linking to suspicious sites will become suspicious in turn
- duplicate content (copying text from another site) – is penalized by Google by being removed or even excluded from indexing
- too low keyword density within the text – in this case the page will not be considered as relevant to the keyword and consequently will not index well
- existence of hidden text – Google penalizes all sites that contain hidden text, and if it represents a significant percentage of the text on the site there is a chance of a significant penalty
Fiveplus performs an analysis of the page content to check the size of the page, the number of links and their validity.
We emphasize this analysis because we had clients whose site had already been optimized, but this aspect of link validity was ignored, resulting in Google penalizing the site.
The penalty was only removed after we corrected or removed the links that were invalid.
We recommend keeping the size of the pages within acceptable limits in order not to get very long loading times and not to affect their indexing in Google.
Fiveplus creates a keyword density within the limits recommended by the Google search engine. Duplicate content is also avoided to avoid any penalty from Google.
The Fiveplus SEO approach is that of a white-hat optimization service, which respects the rules of search engines and therefore does not use the specific techniques of black-hat optimization: hidden text, over-optimization of site content, doorway pages.
